We offer gratitude to the Skwxwú7mesh People who have lived on these lands since time immemorial.Victim Services Crisis Worker Temporary Part-Time (4-19 hours/week) Are you compassionate, resilient, and committed to supporting individuals during some of the most challenging moments of their lives? The Victim Services Crisis Worker provides immediate crisis intervention, emotional support, information, and referrals to victims, witnesses, and family members impacted by crime, serious accidents, and traumatic events. Working closely with the RCMP and community service providers, this role responds to police call-outs, assists clients in navigating the criminal justice system, coordinates access to essential services, and helps ensure victims receive timely and compassionate support. The successful candidate will possess strong crisis intervention skills, sound knowledge of community resources and the justice system, and the ability to remain calm and effective in emotionally demanding situations. This position also provides guidance and support to Victim Services volunteers while upholding the RCMP core values of integrity, respect, compassion, responsibility, and excellence. This temporary part-time position requires availability for approximately 4-19 hours per week. Shifts range Sunday to Saturday 7:00am-9:00pm, primarily during evenings and weekends. Employees may be scheduled for standby duty shifts to respond to call-outs as necessary. What we?re looking for: Post-secondary coursework in sociology, psychology, criminology, social work, or a related social science discipline. Experience providing support to individuals affected by crisis, trauma, or other challenging life circumstances. Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in emotionally charged and rapidly evolving situations. Comfortable navigating through uneven terrain and/or sitting for extended periods of time Ability to obtain and maintain an enhanced RCMP security clearance 20-minute driving proximity to the Squamish RCMP detachment while on shift Ability to work some nights and weekends Valid BC Class 5 Driver?s LicenseWho we are: The District of Squamish is a progressive and growing community.
