Job description
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Prosthetics and orthotics laboratories. Tasks: Design prosthetic and orthotic devices, such as artificial limbs, braces or supports based on physicians' prescriptions and examination of patients. Ensure the information on prescriptions is accurate. Fabricate prosthetic and orthotic appliances . Fit and make adjustments for proper fit and comfort. Repair, build and modify prosthetic or orthotic appliances or footwear. Assemble or build prosthetic and orthotic appliances according to drawings, measurements and plaster casts. Make and modify plaster casts. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Repetitive tasks. Attention to detail. Fast-paced environment. Standing for extended periods. Ability to distinguish between colours. Work under pressure. Personal suitability: Accurate. Judgement. Organized. Team player. Ability to multitask. Dedication.
