Job description
*Job Summary* We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Full-Time First Aid Instructor to join our team in a permanent position averaging 40 hours per week, with approximately 50% dedicated to teaching and 50% to administrative responsibilities. In this role, you will deliver engaging, high-quality first aid training to diverse audiences, equipping participants with the confidence and life-saving skills needed to respond effectively in emergency situations. Responsibilities include delivering certification and recertification courses in accordance with established standards, supporting administrative operations, and serving as a lead instructor to mentor and guide new instructors. Class schedules will vary based on company and client needs, with evening and weekend availability required. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while contributing to a supportive, collaborative, and growing team. *Responsibilities* * Deliver engaging, high-quality first aid certification and recertification courses in accordance with established program standards. * Develop and deliver interactive lesson plans using demonstrations, scenarios, and practical activities. * Assess participant competency and provide constructive feedback to support learning outcomes. * Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and confidence. * Maintain accurate training records, attendance, and certifications, submitting all course paperwork within 48 hours. * Stay current with first aid protocols, industry regulations, and certification requirements. * Maintain clean, organized classrooms, training equipment, and facilities. * Respond promptly and professionally to student and office inquiries. * Travel to various training locations, with additional compensation for assignments outside the Fraser Valley/Greater Vancouver. * Mentor new instructors, provide instructional support, and lead instructor in-service training. * Collaborate with team members to coordinate schedules, equipment, and training resources. * Support daily administrative operations, including course coordination, scheduling, and record management. *Skills* * Proven experience in tutoring or teaching first aid or related health and safety topics * Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex concepts in an accessible manner * Strong classroom experience with the ability to engage diverse groups of learners effectively * Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet different learning styles and needs * Enthusiastic attitude with a passion for empowering others through education * Organized with attention to detail for record keeping and course planning *Qualifications:* * Valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening. * Current Instructor Certifications (required): Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructor ? Core Stream * Willingness to obtain and maintain the following certification: Canadian Red Cross Teaching Experience Supervisor * Preference given to those also holding one (or more) of the following certifications: Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor, Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Instructor ? Pool OR Waterpark Stream, Lifesaving Society Trainer ? Swim Instructor OR Lifesaving Instructor Stream * Strong problem-solving, conflict management, and customer service skills. * Strong communication and leadership skills. * Flexibility to accommodate varying class schedules. * Current Class 7N or Class 5 Drivers License and reliable transportation.
