Job description
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Noisy. Work setting: Construction. Tasks: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs. Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites. Instruct apprentices. Supervise other workers. Estimate costs and materials. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Physically demanding. Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years. Support for youths: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports youth employment. Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for youth. Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth.
