Farm supervisor

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Hog and pig farming. Work setting: Rural area. Tasks: Conduct artificial insemination and spraying or shearing of livestock or disinfecting pens, barns or poultry houses. Handling animals. Marking livestock as proof of ownership. Monitoring animal health. Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration. Treat livestock health issues. Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures. Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers. Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed. Maintain livestock performance records. Maintain quality control and production records. Select livestock for sale. Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs. Maintain work records and logs. Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment. Perform general farm duties. Area of specialization: Swine. Employment terms options: Early morning. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years.
