General farm worker - livestock

Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Hog and pig farming. Work setting: Rural area. Tasks: Disinfect pens, barns or poultry houses. Handling animals. Monitoring animal health. Perform livestock feeding. Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration. Treat livestock health issues. Feed and tend animals. Carry out a pasture or pen breeding programs. Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed. Clean stables, barns, barnyards and pens. Perform general farm duties. Set and monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns, pens and chicken coops. Area of specialization: Swine.
