Job description

Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Turkey breeding. Turkey farming. Dusty. Hot. Noisy. Odours. Poultry and egg production. Wet/damp. Cold/refrigerated. All weather conditions. Work setting: Rural area. Tasks: Conduct artificial insemination and spraying or shearing of livestock or disinfecting pens, barns or poultry houses. Handling animals. Monitoring animal health. Carry out a pasture or pen breeding programs. Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers. Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed. Maintain livestock performance records. Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs. Maintain work records and logs. Hire and train staff. Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment. Perform general farm duties. Clean stables, barns, barnyards and pens. Detect disease and health problems in crops, livestock and poultry. Examine product for quality and its readiness for the market. Set and monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns, pens and chicken coops. Supervise and co-ordinate activities of workers. Perform livestock feeding. Supervision: 3-4 people. 1 to 2 people. 11-15 people. Equipment and machinery experience: Egg gathering system. Feeding and watering system. Tractor. Area of specialization: Agricultural livestock service. Poultry. Animal husbandry. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Tight deadlines.
