Job description
The Carrot River Outback Thunder are accepting applications for the position of Head Coach, effective immediately, for the remainder of the 2026-2027 season.
We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and motivated leader to guide our players and support the continued development of our Junior B hockey program.
Responsibilities:
- Lead team practices, games, and hockey-related activities
- Develop practice plans, systems, and game strategies
- Support player development on and off the ice
- Build a positive, accountable, and respectful team culture
- Communicate effectively with players, staff, management, and the Board
- Assist with player evaluation, roster decisions, recruitment, and team development
- Promote sportsmanship, discipline, professionalism, and commitment
- Represent the Outback Thunder positively in the community and throughout the league
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the Junior, U18 AAA/AA, or comparable competitive level
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- A player-development-focused coaching philosophy
- Strong knowledge of hockey systems and game preparation
- Ability to motivate, teach, and hold players accountable
- Ability to work effectively with management and coaching staff
- Appropriate Hockey Canada/Hockey Saskatchewan certifications, or ability to obtain them
- Ability to meet required screening and league/governing-body requirements
Applicants must be available for evening and weekend practices, games, and team travel.
