Residential Construction SuperintendentValdek ConstructionWinnipeg, MB | Full-time | On-site | $36-$40 per hourValdek Construction is looking for an experienced Residential Construction Superintendent to join our team in Winnipeg.This is an important leadership role for someone who understands residential construction, can keep work organized and moving forward, and has the technical judgment to identify problems before they become bigger problems.We are looking for someone who does more than oversee a job. We want a construction professional who can take ownership, communicate clearly, hold the work to a high standard, and help ensure projects are completed correctly and efficiently.What You'll DoAs Superintendent, you will oversee day-to-day construction activities on residential renovation and construction projects. You will work closely with the team to coordinate site activities, maintain quality, anticipate challenges, and keep projects moving.Your responsibilities will include:Oversee daily construction activities and site operationsCoordinate trades, team members, materials, and site activitiesReview project plans, layouts, measurements, and construction requirementsMonitor workmanship and verify that work is being completed correctlyIdentify potential issues early and work through practical solutionsEnsure materials, tools, equipment, and other job requirements are ready when neededTrack project progress and communicate updates, concerns, and changes to the teamHelp maintain project schedules and keep work moving efficientlyCoordinate with project leadership when decisions or additional resources are neededMaintain organized, safe, and professional job sitesEnsure construction work follows appropriate safety and quality practicesHelp identify problems before they affect the schedule, budget, or quality of the projectProvide direction and support to carpenters, trades, and other team members on siteTake ownership of site-level issues and follow through until they are resolvedWhat We're Looking ForWe are looking for a practical, experienced construction leader who can think ahead and keep a project moving without constant supervision.The right candidate will have:5+ years of carpentry experience with a wide range of residential renovation work; finish carpentry is a strong assetRed Seal certification or equivalent experience strongly preferred (top of the wage range reflects certification and proven leadership)Previous experience as a Superintendent, Site Superintendent, Lead Carpenter, Foreman, or similar construction leadership roleStrong understanding of residential construction methods and sequencingThe ability to read and understand construction plans and project requirementsStrong attention to detail and quality controlExcellent problem-solving and decision-making skillsStrong organizational and logistical skillsThe ability to anticipate construction challenges before they become problemsStrong communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with different people on a jobThe ability to hold yourself and others accountable for completing work correctlyThe ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the fieldA strong commitment to safety, quality, and professional workmanshipWho we areOur team is passionate about growth, innovation, and doing the job right.
