Lead CarpenterValdek ConstructionWinnipeg, MB | Full-time | On-site | $34-$38 per hourValdek Construction is looking for an experienced Lead Carpenter to join our team in Winnipeg. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows residential construction, takes pride in doing things correctly, and can be trusted to take ownership of a job from start to finish.We work on residential renovations, home additions, basements, kitchens, and bathrooms throughout Winnipeg and surrounding areas. Our work is centered on quality craftsmanship, clear communication, and delivering what we promise to homeowners.What You'll DoAs Lead Carpenter, you will help lead day-to-day construction activities on residential renovation and construction projects. You will be expected to work independently, coordinate the work on site, and make sure projects are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.Your responsibilities will include:Lead and perform hands-on carpentry and residential construction workRead and understand plans, measurements, layouts, and project requirementsCoordinate daily work on site and help keep projects moving according to scheduleVerify measurements, layouts, levels, square, and other critical details before work progressesIdentify potential construction issues early and solve problems before they become larger problemsMake sure materials, tools, and equipment needed for the job are properly planned and readyReview your work and the work being completed on site for quality and accuracyCommunicate clearly with the project team regarding progress, issues, and materials neededMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work siteWork professionally in occupied homes and treat clients' property with care and respectFollow through on commitments and take ownership when something needs to be correctedHelp guide other team members and set a strong example for workmanship, reliability, and professionalismWhat We're Looking ForThe right person is more than someone who can swing a hammer. We are looking for a skilled, dependable problem-solver who can think ahead and get the job done right the first time.You should have:5+ years of carpentry experience with a wide range of residential renovation work; finish carpentry is a strong asset??Red Seal certification or equivalent experience strongly preferred (top of the wage range reflects certification and proven leadership)Previous experience working in a lead carpenter or similar senior construction roleStrong knowledge of residential renovation and construction practicesThe ability to accurately measure, lay out, and verify workStrong attention to detail and qualityThe ability to identify problems and determine practical solutionsStrong organizational and logistical skillsThe ability to prepare for a job and make sure the necessary materials, tools, and equipment are accounted forThe ability to work independently without constant supervisionA strong sense of accountability and ownershipGood communication and teamwork skillsA commitment to safety and following proper proceduresClass 5 driver's licence and a reliable vehicle capable of transporting tools and occasional materials (until the company vehicle is in place)Who we areOur team is passionate about growth, innovation, and doing the job right.
