Job description

Education: Bachelor's degree. Work setting: Community or retail pharmacy. Tasks: Advise customers on indications, contraindications, adverse effects, drug interactions and dosage. Dispense prescribed pharmaceuticals to customers or to other health care professionals. Administer budget. Advise customers on selection and use of non-prescription medication. Check prescriptions for proper dosage. Hire and train staff. Supervise and co-ordinate the activities of other pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, pharmacy technicians and other staff. Supervision: 3-4 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Certification for drug administration by injection and intranasal route. Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Repetitive tasks. Fast-paced environment. Standing for extended periods. Attention to detail. Personal suitability: Accurate. Client focus. Dependability. Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent written communication. Initiative.
