*Child & Youth Worker ? Daytime, Evening & Awake Overnight Opportunities* *Pickering, Ontario* $28 per hour Renew Child and Youth Homes (RCYH) is growing our team at our small, home-style children's residence in Pickering. We are currently looking for experienced and dependable Child & Youth Workers interested in daytime and/or awake overnight shifts. Applicants are encouraged to identify their preferred schedule and availability when applying. Some team members may be interested primarily in daytime work, others in awake overnights, and some may have flexibility across both. *About Renew Child and Youth Homes* RCYH provides small-setting, home-style residential care for children and youth in Durham Region. Because our homes are intentionally small, our team has the opportunity to really get to know the young people we support: their routines, strengths, interests, communication styles, what helps them feel safe and settled, and what they need from the adults around them. *The Role* Child & Youth Workers are part of the everyday life of an RCYH home. Depending on your assigned shifts, your day might include helping a young person prepare for school, supporting appointments or activities, preparing meals, working through a difficult moment, completing documentation, supporting household routines, or helping the home settle safely for the night. Our CYWs provide direct care and supervision, follow individualized Plans of Care and safety plans, support daily living and life skills, and help create a safe, organized and welcoming environment. *Responsibilities include:* * Building respectful and trusting relationships with children and youth while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries * Providing active supervision, structure and support in accordance with Plans of Care, safety plans, supervision requirements and individual needs * Supporting everyday routines including meals, hygiene, school, appointments, family contact, recreation, community activities, bedtime and morning routines * Encouraging independence, practical life skills and participation in meaningful activities * Responding calmly and appropriately to behavioural, emotional or safety concerns using approved trauma-informed, de-escalation and crisis-support approaches * Completing clear, objective and timely shift notes, daily logs, youth checks, incident records and other required documentation * Communicating important information during shift handovers and contributing to consistent care across the team * Preparing meals and supporting household routines including laundry, cleaning, organization and restocking * Supporting medication administration when appropriately trained and authorized * Following RCYH health, safety, emergency, confidentiality, licensing and service requirements * Participating in team meetings, training, supervision and other activities related to the care and support of the children and youth *Awake Overnight Shifts* Awake overnight positions are active working shifts, not sleep shifts or passive supervision. Employees assigned to overnight shifts must remain awake and alert throughout the entire shift and are responsible for: * Completing required youth and safety checks * Responding promptly if a child or youth wakes or requires support * Completing required documentation * Preparing the home for the following day * Completing scheduled household responsibilities such as meal preparation, laundry, cleaning, restocking and organization * Providing a clear handover to the incoming team *Who We're Looking For* You may be a strong fit if you: * Have experience supporting children or youth in residential care, child welfare, developmental services, mental health, behavioural support or another related setting * Understand that behaviour can communicate an underlying need * Remain calm, thoughtful and professional when situations become difficult * Can build meaningful relationships while maintaining clear professi
