Township of LangleyFine Arts Programs Curator Competition Number 26-U089 Employment Type Regular Full-Time Pay Rate $41.93 - $49.35 per hour (2026 rates) plus benefits Hours of Work 35 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm; some evenings and weekends will be required to support programs; non-standard hours and/or non-standard work weeks Competition Opening Date October 8, 2026 Competition Internal Closing Date October 19, 2026 Competition External Closing Date October 22, 2026 Job OverviewThe Township of Langley is recruiting for a regular full-time Fine Arts Programs Curator to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Arts and Culture Division, Arts, Culture Programs and Services Department. Reporting to the Manager, Arts and Culture, in this unionized position you will be a part of a dynamic team dedicated to enriching the community through art, including, engaging arts and cultural programs, public art initiatives, and art specific exhibitions.Responsibilities Plan, develop, and deliver arts-based programs and events at salishan Place by the River and other locations and venues throughout the Township of Langley Oversee operation of the Printmaking Studio at salishan Place by the River Oversee an Artist-in-Residence program at salishan Place by the River Prepare requests for expression of interest for specific public art projects Support the creation of art-focused exhibitions Conduct research into art history, community arts and cultural practices, and develop materials for exhibitions, publication and dissemination Represent salishan Place by the River within the local arts community Perform related work as requiredQualifications University graduation with a degree in Visual Arts, Fine Art, Art History or related disciplines, plus sound curatorial experience including supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience Considerable knowledge of the arts and culture needs, interests, and resources of the community Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal/external contacts and community groups/organizations Ability to conceptualize, implement, and maintain exhibitions and display installations Familiarity with Coast Salish culture and art forms is considered an assetThis position is defined by the Township of Langley as a Position of Trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate will be required to have a Police Information Check as a condition of employment (not required as part of the application process, however, will be required upon consideration for employment).Required Certifications/LicensesCandidates must have the following valid and current certifications/licenses (must be valid at the time the posting closes) and these must be attached with your application. Valid BC Class 5 Driver?s License.
