About this tool
Trade certification in Canada is administered by provinces and territories, and the rules can differ by trade and location. Some trades are compulsory in certain jurisdictions, some are voluntary, and Red Seal designation does not by itself mean that the same certification rule applies everywhere. Hibo's finder therefore avoids making a legal determination about whether you are allowed to work in a trade.
Enter an occupation and choose a province or territory. The tool checks Hibo's Red Seal reference list for similar trade names and identifies the apprenticeship or certification authority responsible for the selected jurisdiction. The result gives you an official place to verify apprenticeship pathways, trade qualification, exam eligibility and local rules.
Always confirm the current requirements with the provincial or territorial authority before relying on a result for employment, training or relocation decisions. Trade names can also vary by jurisdiction. Hibo uses official Red Seal and government reference links where possible, but the authority itself is the source of truth for compulsory certification, recognized experience, examinations and apprenticeship requirements.
