About this tool

Canada's National Occupational Classification is the national system used to describe and organize occupations. The current NOC 2021 Version 1.0 uses a five-digit structure and includes the TEER framework for Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities. Hibo's finder is designed to make the official classification easier to search by everyday occupation names and NOC codes.

A NOC result should be treated as a starting point. Similar job titles can belong to different unit groups depending on the duties actually performed. When a NOC code is being used for immigration, licensing, government reporting or another formal process, compare the official lead statement, main duties and employment requirements with the real position rather than relying on the job title alone.

Hibo stores the reference version and source alongside the tool so the dataset can be refreshed when Canada publishes an updated classification. As of October 2026, NOC 2021 Version 1.0 remains the current public classification and the Government of Canada has announced that NOC 2026 Version 1.0 is scheduled for release in December 2026.
