Job description
*Job Description Position: Speech Language Pathologists (SLP) * The successful candidate will provide assessment and treatment of swallowing and communication disorders for adult inpatients with a variety of medical diagnoses. Collaboration with other health care professionals providing patient and family centered care in a team setting is an integral part of this position. The SLP may be required to provide coverage on more than one medical unit. *Duties & Responsibilities * * assessing and treating swallowing and communication difficulties arising from a range of causes, e.g. congenital problems (such as cleft palate) or acquired disorders after a stroke or injury; * devising, implementing and revising relevant treatment programmes; * advising carers on implementing treatment programmes and training other professionals in therapy delivery; * assessing communication environments; * monitoring and evaluating clients' progress; * working with clients on a one-to-one basis, and in groups, to deliver therapy; * writing and maintaining confidential client case notes and reports, as well as information for clients, carers and other professionals; * managing a caseload taking account of priority cases, waiting lists, successful outcomes, referral and discharge of service users; * document and communicate patient care plans according to established guidelines and standards; * make appropriate referrals to other agencies and professionals as required; * undertaking clinical audit through the collation of statistical and other data relating to service delivery; * participating in research projects; *Qualifications: * * Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution. * Licensed with the College of Audiologists & Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). * Previous experience with assessment and management of swallowing disorders, including video- fluoroscopic assessment for dysphagia. * Previous experience with assessment and treatment of patients with neurological deficits. * Strong case management skills and demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced team environment. * Superior interpersonal communication skills, including verbal and written communication. * Interest in potential professional and career development opportunities. * Satisfactory attendance and performance required. * Valid driver?s licence, access to a personal vehicle *Requite status & Location: * * Full-time, Part-time; Contract .Toronto and GTA.
