MARDA LOOP COMMUNITIES ASSOCIATION Senior Bookkeeper (Contract Position) Position Title: Senior Bookkeeper Reports To: General Manager Employment Status: Contract Position Hours: 40?60 hours per month Location: MLCA Community Hall, Calgary, AB Start Date: Mid-October 2026 Compensation: $35.00-$45.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications Position Summary The Marda Loop Communities Association (MLCA) is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to oversee the day-to-day financial administration of the Association. The successful candidate will be responsible for full-cycle accounting, payroll administration, financial reporting, grant accounting, audit support, and regulatory compliance. This position requires a highly organized professional with a minimum of 10 years of bookkeeping experience and strong Excel skills. Experience working within a not-for-profit organization is considered a strong asset. This is a contract position with an expected commitment of 40 - 60 hours per month. Key Responsibilities * Manage full-cycle accounts receivable and accounts payable processes. * Prepare and post accruals, deferrals, and month-end journal entries. * Maintain departmental accounting records and cost allocations. * Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and the Board. * Process payroll and maintain payroll records through Ceridian Dayforce. * Administer employee benefits programs and related reconciliations. * Annual tax reporting * Manage WCB reporting, remittances, and compliance requirements. * Complete account reconciliations including bank accounts, credit cards, prepaid expenses, deferred revenue, and other balance sheet accounts. * Prepare and submit AGLC reporting and related reconciliations. * Track, record, and report on grant funding and grant expenditures. * Support annual and periodic third-party audits and provide required documentation. * Monitor cash flow and assist with budget preparation and forecasting. * Maintain financial records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legislation. * Provide recommendations for process improvements and internal controls. * Transition Records and data to on-line and cloud-based systems where appropriate Qualifications and Experience * Minimum 10 years of progressive bookkeeping or accounting experience. * Post-secondary education in accounting, bookkeeping, or related discipline preferred. * Experience in a not-for-profit environment is an asset. * Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills including formulas, pivots, and financial analysis. * Strong understanding of accrual accounting principles, financial reporting, payroll, and account reconciliation. * Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and accuracy. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Work independently and be flexible to address shifting needs * Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently Software Experience * Sage 50 Premium Accounting * CAFT (Customer Automated Funds Transfer) * Square and Stripe payment platforms * Microsoft Excel * Ceridian Dayforce * Communal What MLCA Offers An opportunity to contribute to a vibrant community organization, work with a collaborative team, and support programs, events, facilities, and services that benefit residents and businesses in the Marda Loop area.
