The Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites Conference Centre & Spa is seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual to join our team as a Second Cook. Your warm, attentive guest service and passion for customer service is worth raising a glass to! *Key Responsibilities* * Prepare, cook, and present a variety of menu items including meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, soups, sauces, salads, sandwiches, and other food products. * Ensure food is prepared according to recipes, quality standards, and proper cooking temperatures. * Assist with banquet, outlet, and in-room dining food production. * Maintain appropriate mise-en-place and ensure all stations are fully stocked and organized. * Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory procedures and assist with stock rotation. * Label, date, and properly store food products in accordance with food safety standards. * Assist with ordering and requisitioning supplies as required. * Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment. * Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, workplace health and safety, and fire safety regulations. * Minimize food waste through effective production planning and portion control. * Report equipment concerns, safety hazards, and product quality issues to kitchen leadership. * Support and collaborate with the First Cook, Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, and Executive Chef. * Take responsibility for designated kitchen areas and provide coverage during breaks or absences when required. * Participate in daily team briefings and maintain compliance with hotel policies and procedures. *Qualifications* * Minimum *3 years of culinary experience* in a high-volume restaurant, hotel, banquet, or food service environment. * Secondary school diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent. * Valid *Ontario Food Handler Certification*. * Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and food presentation standards. * Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety regulations. * Experience working in banquet and large-scale food production environments is considered an asset. * Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment. * Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills. * Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as required. * Knowledge of current culinary trends and modern cooking techniques is an asset. * Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. * Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. * Ability to bend, reach, and perform physically demanding kitchen duties. * Ability to work in hot and fast-paced kitchen environments.
