Barton* 847 Barton Street East, Hamilton, ON *Job Type:* Full-Time / Part-Time *Position:* Registered Nurse (RN) About the Role Samy's Drug Mart is looking for a compassionate, organized, and dependable *Registered Nurse (RN)* to join our healthcare team at our Barton Street location in Hamilton. This is a unique community-based nursing position combining patient care, pharmacy collaboration, and medication delivery services. The successful candidate will work closely with our pharmacists, physicians, clinic staff, and patients to support safe and accessible healthcare within the community. The position will include travelling locally to patients' residences to deliver prescribed medications, including controlled medications and opioid agonist therapy medications such as methadone, in accordance with pharmacy policies and applicable regulatory requirements. Responsibilities * Provide professional nursing support and patient care within the scope of practice of a Registered Nurse. * Collaborate closely with pharmacists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. * Support patients receiving ongoing medication therapy and other pharmacy-based healthcare services. * Safely transport and deliver prescription medications to patients within the community. * Follow required procedures for the secure handling and transportation of medications, including controlled substances. * Obtain and document confirmation of medication receipt as required. * Maintain accurate delivery, patient-care, and medication-related documentation. * Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with PHIPA and applicable privacy requirements. * Follow all pharmacy policies, procedures, safety protocols, and applicable regulatory requirements. * Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients and their families. * Promptly report unsuccessful deliveries, discrepancies, concerns, or medication-security issues to the pharmacist. * Assist the pharmacy and healthcare team with additional patient-care activities within the RN's scope of practice. Qualifications * Current registration as a *Registered Nurse (RN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)* in good standing. * Valid Ontario driver's licence. * Reliable access to transportation and ability to travel locally within Hamilton and surrounding areas. * Strong understanding of patient confidentiality and professional documentation. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Dependable, organized, and comfortable working independently in the community. * Strong attention to detail, particularly when handling medications and documentation. * Ability to work collaboratively with pharmacists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. Preferred Qualifications * Previous experience in community nursing, primary care, pharmacy, addictions medicine, mental health, or opioid agonist treatment is an asset. * Experience working with patients receiving methadone or other opioid agonist therapies is an asset. * Knowledge of controlled-substance handling and medication-delivery procedures is an asset.
