Restaurant manager

Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Tasks: Develop budget to determine cost of food, ingredients, alcohol, kitchen and cleaning supplies. Modify food preparation methods and menu prices according to the restaurant budget . Determine type of services to be offered and implement operational procedures. Balance cash and complete balance sheets, cash reports and related forms. Negotiate arrangements with suppliers for food and other supplies. Provide advice in the area of food preparation and storage, and food safety. Establish and maintain contact with suppliers. Co-ordinate implementation of repairs, maintenance and renovation. Resolve issues that may arise, including customer requests, complaints and supply shortages. Calculate daily/shift payments received and reconcile with total sales. Prepare inventory costs, retail pricing and profit reports. Co-ordinate set-ups, staging, seating, parking, communication systems and other details for special events. Recruit, hire and supervise staff and/or volunteers. Supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers. Supervision: 16-20 people. Computer and technology knowledge: Point of sale system. Spreadsheet.
