A Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive patient and family centred care on an acute surgical unit in accordance with RAH and AHS policy and procedures. PCU 410 is a 28-bed unit providing care to primary hip, knee and shoulder arthroplasty patients as well as general orthopedic patients. Patients are mostly received from the operating room, but may also come from the emergency department, and directly from other inpatient units. We have collaborative care nursing on all shifts with registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and health care aides working collaboratively. All RNs are expected to work to their full scope of practice within hospital policy which includes complex patient assessment and management, leadership, interprofessional collaboration and charge.
