Job description

Duties and responsibilities: The Orthopaedics Utility Clerk supports clinicians and technicians in providing equipment to clients. Duties include: - Operate and use department tools, materials, and components in accordance with established procedures. - Assist clinicians and technicians with department tasks related to providing equipment to clients. - Prepare and fill prescriptions for mailing. - Clean and refurbish equipment for reuse, including the use of a pressure washer and other cleaning equipment. - Lift, move, and push equipment, and work safely in workshop, warehouse, and wash-bay areas. - Follow infection prevention, chemical handling, and workplace safety procedures, including use of personal protective equipment when required. - Complete repetitive tasks accurately, follow precise instructions, and reprioritize work as needed. Qualifications: Education: - Grade 12 or equivalent. Skills: - Experience using power tools and hand tools is required. - Good hand skills and mechanical aptitude. - Ability to follow established procedures and work independently with minimal supervision once tasks are assigned. - Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with clinicians, technicians, and other staff. - Ability to multitask and frequently reprioritize workload. - Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including frequent standing, walking, lifting, moving, and pushing equipment. - Ability to work in workshop and warehouse settings where there may be noise, seasonal temperature changes, confined spaces, cleaning chemicals, contaminated equipment, and slippery surfaces. - Willingness to complete job-specific training after hire, including program policies and procedures, equipment types, cleaning techniques, and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System certification.
