Placement in the salary range will be based on relevant job-related factors like candidate experience, education, skills and qualifications. RESPONSIBILITIESProduct ImprovementOwn the basesheet development initiatives that are part of the 3 ? year papermaking product development roadmap for assigned categoriesOwn trial design, success criteria, and recommendationAuthor trial charters and experimental plans with success criteria; execute validation runs and oversee sample/test plansConvert consumer and lab results into clear go/no ? go recommendations for product development reviews with Product Management/Quality/Marketing/Executive LeadershipDefine Specifications & Critical to Quality parametersInnovationExecute & support Sales/Marketing product innovation initiativesDrive changes and develop processes to enhance products / marginLead external trials and evaluations with suppliers and labs (chemistry, fabrics, papermaking, converting, analytical testing)Ensure NDA and data ? handling compliance with vendorsInvestigate and implement new technologiesInfluence changes, ideas, and developmentsRegularly benchmark vs. competitive/National brands to understand positioning and areas for improvementSupportProvide multi ? site technical support for quality and runnabilityProvide technical support to customers / quality systemsProvide support for significant operational and quality issues directly at the sitesMentor junior engineersEngage and influence all levels of the company Lead technical seminars for operational/process staffQUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field (Chemical or Pulp & Paper preferred), or equivalent experience10-15 years of tissue/towel papermaking experience, including TAD technology, process optimization, and trial/experimental designExperience in R&D, Product Development, and/or QualityStrong knowledge of papermaking processes; pulp mill process knowledge is an assetProficiency in experimental design, statistics, data analysis, visualization, and root cause problem solvingProject management experience, including A3 and Gantt chart methodologiesStrong leadership, coaching, mentoring, and communication skills across all organizational levelsSelf-starter with the ability to learn and apply new concepts, manage competing priorities, and drive resultsWillingness to travel up to 25% across Canada and the United StatesBasic to intermediate converting knowledge or exposureABOUT USFounded in 1882, J.D.
