Maintenance PersonAuxilliaryPosting #PRC2026-84Oak Bay Parks, Recreation and Culture is seeking Maintenance People for Oak Bay, Henderson, and Monterey Recreation Centres. Under the direction of the Lead Hand, this position is responsible for keeping the facilities clean, the equipment in working order, and programs running on time. We acknowledge and respect that the District of Oak Bay lies in the traditional territory of the lak'wal)an people, known today as the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations, and that their historic connections to these lands continue to this day.RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains cleanliness of the facilities including washrooms, changeroom areas and public spaces Vacuuming, mopping, and sweeping as required. Set up of rooms as per set schedule. Maintains a close relationship with administration and maintenance staff with respect to the facility cleanliness and mechanical operation. Performs routine minor maintenance on equipment, pool chemistry, and data readings as needed.QUALIFICATIONS Sound working knowledge and experience with building maintenance and cleaning routines. Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of various equipment. Proven initiative and ability to work without close supervision. Current CPR-C certification. Valid Refrigeration Operators Certificate recognized by Technical Safety BC is considered and asset. Valid Pool Operator 1 & 2 Certification is considered an asset Provision of a current Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (Note: This is the applicant's financial responsibility to obtain this). HOURS OF WORK Friday, Saturday and Sunday: Dayshifts (Up to 8 hours) Afternoon shifts (5-8 hours) Night shifts (Up to 10 hours) Note: The hours and lengths of our shifts vary according to staff availability and program needs. LOCATION(S) Oak Bay Recreation Centre, Henderson Recreation Centre, and/or Monterey Recreation Centre RATE $29.36-$29.80/hr ($25.75-$26.14 per hour plus $3.61-$3.66 per hour in lieu of benefits) - 2026 rates With RO and Pool Operators I & II certifications: $40.16/hr ($35.23 per hour plus $4.93 per hour in lieu of benefits) - 2026 rates STATUS Auxiliary (This is a union position) BENEFITS 14% in lieu of benefits per hour.
