Maintenance carpenter

Level of expertise: Maintenance and repair. Tasks: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs. Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites. Estimate costs and materials. Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments. Renovate electrical systems in residential and commercial structures. Repair domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Carpenter Trade Certification. Carpenter Red Seal Certificate. Type of service and repair: Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Types of systems: Plumbing, cold water and drain lines. Equipment and machinery experience: Hand tools. Electrical and electronic controls. Surface preparation experience: Drywall taping/patching. Parts specialization: Carpentry/woodworking machinery. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling.
