Job description
Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. Work setting: Automotive manufacturing. Aviation/aerospace manufacturing. Agricultural equipment. General manufacturing. Transportation - road/rail/marine. Mining Industry. Oil and gas industry. Oilfield construction industry. Tasks: Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts. Measure and lay out work pieces in preparation for assembly. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables. Repair machine tools and parts. Set up and adjust production machineries/tools. Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance. Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments. Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances. Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Machinist Trade Certification. Machinist Red Seal Endorsment. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Measuring tools: Micrometers. Callipers. Verniers. Equipment and machinery experience: Automatic lathes. Boring machines. Broaching machine. Drill presses. Engine lathes. Gear cutting machine. Milling machines. Planers. Sawing machine. Shapers. Surface grinders. Tapping machines. Tool grinders. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation.
