Labourer, excavation

Roto-Rooter is a trusted name in plumbing, drain cleaning, and excavation services across central Vancouver Island. We are currently seeking a hardworking, reliable, and safety-focused *Excavation Labourer* to join our growing *Excavation Division*. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on, outdoor work and is looking to build a long-term career in the plumbing, drainage, and underground services industry. *Job Duties & Responsibilities:* * Perform hand digging and machine-assisted excavations for the installation, repair, and replacement of water service lines, sanitary and storm drainage lines, perimeter drainage systems, septic systems, catch basins, sump pits, and inspection chambers * Assist with site preparation, trenching, backfilling, grading, and material handling. * Safely work around existing underground utilities, including gas, water, sewer, and electrical services. * Operate small machinery and equipment such as compactors, demo saws, jackhammers, and hand tools. * Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment at job sites. * Follow directions from site supervisors and equipment operators to ensure efficient and safe completion of excavation tasks. * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site, adhering to all safety policies and procedures. * Participate in daily safety meetings, hazard assessments, and toolbox talks. * Provide support to plumbers and operators as required. *Qualifications & Requirements:* * *Previous labouring or excavation experience* in plumbing, drainage, or construction is preferred, but willing to train the right candidate. * Physically fit and capable of performing heavy, repetitive tasks outdoors in various weather conditions. * Comfortable working in excavation areas, trenches, and confined spaces. * Knowledge of basic construction and safety practices, including the use of shovels, picks, and other hand tools. * Valid *Class 5 driver?s licence* with a clean driving record; ability to get to various job sites around [City/Region]. * Safety certifications such as *First Aid, WHMIS, and/or Ground Disturbance* considered an asset. * Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to work as part of a team. *What We Offer:* * Competitive hourly wage: *Up to $32hr based on experience* * Overtime opportunities * Paid holidays and vacation * Health and dental benefits package * Company-provided safety gear and training * Opportunities for skill development, safety certifications, and advancement within the company to become operator, crew lead and much more. * A supportive, team-focused, and safety-first work environment *If you?re dependable, hardworking, and ready to build a career in plumbing and excavation services ? we?d love to meet you!* *Apply Today!* *Email us or visit us at https://www.rotorooter.com/careers/jobs/* Job Type: Full-time Pay: $27.00-$32.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 ? 45.0 per week Benefits: * Dental care * Extended health care * Paid time off * RRSP match Experience: * excavation and labourer: 1 year (required) Licence/Certification: * Driving Licence (required) Work Location: In person
