Job description

The Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority (ADEA) is a First Nation Education Authority serving the three Denesuline First Nations communities in northern Saskatchewan; Black Lake First Nation, Hatchet Lake First Nation, and Fond Du Lac First Nation. The Authority serves a total student population of approximately 1,300+ students. The Authority is working toward improved educational outcomes by utilizing the latest technology, progressively piloting programs, and integrating Denesuline culture into the classroom and school curriculum. The ADEA is seeking competent, confident, motivated individuals to fill the full-time position of Itinerant Teacher. The Itinerant Teacher will be assigned to various classrooms and school settings when a classroom teacher is away on extended leave, generally for one week or longer. The position requires flexibility to teach across grade levels and subject areas, maintain continuity of learning, and support students during the classroom teachers absence. When no extended-leave assignment is required, the Itinerant Teacher will assist school and Authority staff with program planning, resource development, assessment preparation, and other instructional priorities. This competition is open to all applicants who reside in Canada; and preference will be given to First Nation or other Indigenous applicants who possess the qualifications, knowledge, and skills to meet the minimum suitability requirements as stated for the position.
