Job description
*Department:* Human Resources *Reports To:* Human Resources and OHS Manager *Employment Type:* Full-Time Position Summary The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting and administering a broad range of human resources functions, including recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training and development, HR administration, policy implementation, and health and safety compliance. The HR Generalist serves as a trusted resource for employees and management, ensuring HR practices align with company policies, employment legislation, and organizational objectives. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. This role plays a critical part in fostering a positive workplace culture, supporting employee engagement, and promoting a safe and compliant work environment. *Key Responsibilities* Recruitment & Talent Acquisition * Manage full-cycle recruitment activities, including job postings, candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing, reference checks, and onboarding. * Utilize Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to manage recruitment workflows and candidate communications. * Coordinate new employee orientations and onboarding programs. * Prepare employment agreements, offer letters, onboarding documentation and off-boarding. * Support workforce planning and succession planning initiatives. Employee Relations * Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and workplace concerns. * Conduct workplace investigations and assist in resolving employee relations matters. * Support disciplinary processes, performance improvement plans, and conflict resolution initiatives. * Promote employee engagement and positive workplace culture programs. * Provide guidance to supervisors and managers on HR best practices. HR Administration & Compliance * Maintain accurate employee records and personnel files in accordance with legal and company requirements. * Administer and maintain Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS). * Prepare HR reports, metrics, and workforce analytics. * Ensure compliance with employment standards legislation, human rights legislation, privacy regulations, and company policies. * Assist with policy development, implementation, and communication. * Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and organizational information. Performance Management * Support performance review processes and employee development planning. * Assist managers with goal setting, coaching, and performance evaluations. * Track completion of performance assessments and maintain related records. * Support employee recognition and development initiatives. Health & Safety Responsibilities * Promote and support a positive health and safety culture throughout the organization. * Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations, company safety policies, and safe work procedures. * Coordinate and track mandatory health and safety training. * Participate in workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits. * Assist with incident investigations, corrective actions, and root cause analysis. * Maintain health and safety documentation, records, and training files. * Support Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) activities and meetings. * Report and follow up on workplace hazards, incidents, near misses, and safety concerns. * Assist with emergency preparedness, annual audit and response planning activities. *Qualifications* Education * Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. * CPHR designation or progress toward obtaining a CPHR designation is considered an asset.
