Job description

Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Hay farming. Dangerous. Dusty. Hot. Noisy. Odours. Outdoors. Farm. All weather conditions. Work setting: Rural area. Remote location. Relocation costs not covered by employer. Equestrian. Tasks: Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens and other work areas. Develop specific plans to prioritize. Diagnose livestock health issues. Direct farm feed inventory activities . Direct farm grooming activities . Groom horses in preparation for competitions and shows. Handling animals. Monitoring animal health. Organize tasks to accomplish the work. Treat livestock health issues. Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures. Maintain financial and production records. Negotiate with clients for provision of services. Carry out a pasture or pen breeding programs. Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers. Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed. Formulate feeding program. Maintain livestock performance records. Maintain quality control and production records. Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs. Train horses. Maintain work records and logs. Hire and train staff. Perform general farm duties. Teach students using lessons, discussions, audio-visual presentations and field trips. Supervision: 3-4 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : First Aid Certificate. Equipment and machinery experience: Tractor. Area of specialization: Horses. Animal specialization: Thoroughbred horses. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Work under pressure. Tight deadlines. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Large workload.
