Job description
Whitesand First Nation is seeking an individual to perform duties as Financial Administrator. The Financial Administrator is a full-time administration position located in Whitesand First Nation. The Financial Administrator oversees all financial administration, including banking, accounting, payroll, records and financial statements and reports of the First Nation. The Financial Administrator is also the benefits & pension plan administrator on behalf of the First Nation. The Financial Administrator reports directly to the First Nation Manager. * but not limited to: * Prepares monthly financial statements for Chief and Council approval. Ensures the validity of transactions, the distribution of * Conducts all general accounting including maintenance of general ledgers, account payable and accounts receivable and payroll records * Assists the First Nation staff in the preparation of financial documents and reports for Chief and Council, as well as financial reports required by funding agencies. * Prepares projected cash flow, budgets variance analysis, financial analyses and year end reports for the First Nation Manager as requested * Assist the First Nation Manager to liaise with government and private organization with regard to funding and service expenditures * Provide information and documentation to the First Nation Auditor and assists the First Nation Manager in reviewing draft statements from the auditor. * Administer the Group Benefit and Pension Plan * Performs other duties as assigned by the First Nation Manager *QUALIFICATIONS:* * An Accounting Degree or diploma with five (5) or more years working in a senior finance management position; * Experience in budgeting, accounting, variance analysis and reporting to government agencies * Experience in the administration of payroll, salary and benefits * Experience in supervision of bookkeeping staff * Experience in Simply Accounting and Microsoft Office programs * Working Knowledge of funding and other government agency programs and funding arrangements with First Nations.
