Job description

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Hog and pig farming. Hot. Odours. Dirty. Work setting: Rural area. Tasks: Disinfect pens, barns or poultry houses. Handling animals. Marking livestock as proof of ownership. Monitoring animal health. Perform livestock feeding. Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration. Weaning. Feed and tend animals. Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment. Clean stables, barns, barnyards and pens. Perform general farm duties. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to work independently. Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Tight deadlines. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Attention to detail. Handling heavy loads. Large workload. Ability to distinguish between colours. Sound discrimination. Standing for extended periods. Walking. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Screening questions: Are you available for shift or on-call work?.
