Job description
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Vineyard. Tasks: Coordinate planting and cultivating activities. Direct farm grooming activities . Follow sustainable soy farming practices such as crop rotation, reduced-till or no-till, water and nutrient management, precision farming technology and cover crops. Harvest seedlings. Maintain and manage growth of vines, vine canopy and grapes. Mixing fertilizer. Organize planting, cultivating and crop harvesting activities. Oversee the activities of clearing the fields. Maintain farm machinery, equipment and buildings. Manage overall operation of farm. Perform general farm duties. Recruit, hire and supervise staff and/or volunteers. Type of crops: Cherries. Grapes. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Fast-paced environment. Physically demanding. Standing for extended periods. Personal suitability: Flexibility. Organized. Team player. Support for youths: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports youth employment. Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for youth. Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth. Support for Indigenous people: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers . Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses and organizations . Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers . Facilitates access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers .
