*Corporate Controller* Edmonton, Alberta *Join a Growing Real Estate, Hospitality & Development Organization* Nunastar Properties is seeking an experienced and strategic Corporate Controller to lead the accounting, financial reporting, and financial control functions across our diverse portfolio of real estate developments, income-producing properties, and hotel operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Corporate Controller will play a key leadership role in supporting organizational growth, financial performance, risk management, and strategic decision-making. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with executive leadership while overseeing financial operations across multiple business divisions and entities. *About the Role* The Corporate Controller is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting while providing leadership to the accounting and finance team. The successful candidate will oversee corporate accounting, real estate development accounting, commercial property operations, hotel financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, and financial controls. This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA-designated finance leader who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and enjoys supporting large-scale growth initiatives. *Key Responsibilities* *Financial Reporting & Accounting* * Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting across multiple entities and investment structures. * Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, reconciliations, consolidations, and financial statement preparation. * Ensure compliance with applicable Canadian accounting standards and regulatory requirements. * Coordinate audits, tax compliance, and external financial advisors. *Real Estate Development & Property Accounting* * Oversee accounting for real estate developments, including land acquisitions, construction costs, project budgets, financing costs, and capitalized expenditures. * Monitor property-level financial performance, including operating expenses, tenant receivables, capital projects, and budget-to-actual reporting. * Support financing activities, lender reporting, construction draws, and treasury management. *Hotel & Hospitality Finance* * Oversee hotel financial reporting, labour costs, departmental results, cash flow management, and operational performance. * Partner with General Managers and operational leadership to support financial accountability and profitability. *Financial Planning & Analysis* * Lead annual budgeting and forecasting activities across all divisions. * Provide meaningful financial analysis, management reporting, and business insights to executives and ownership. * Support acquisitions, dispositions, developments, refinancing activities, and strategic growth initiatives. *Leadership & Team Development* * Direct and mentor accounting managers, property accountants, payroll personnel, and finance team members. * Develop succession plans and support employee growth and development initiatives. * Maintain and strengthen internal controls, financial processes, and organizational reporting systems. * Lead continuous improvement, automation, and process enhancement initiatives. *Qualifications* *Required* * CPA designation. * 7-10 years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience, including experience in a Corporate Controller role. * Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, and internal controls. * Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems. * Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and organizational skills. * Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. * Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. *Preferred* * Experience in real estate development, commercial property management, hospitality, construction, or asset
