Job description
*About us:* STRABAG Inc. is a subsidiary of STRABAG SE, a European-based technology group for construction services. STRABAG Inc. has extensive experience in large-scale underground hard and soft-ground construction projects. We provide expertise in ground engineering and tunnel excavation with qualified personnel. The construction Manager will report on the ground conditions encountered and support measures installed, which will be documented daily. They will be responsible for giving recommendations and executing ground improvement and pre-support methods throughout the project. In addition, the Construction Manager will direct, observe and monitor all tunnel crews and provide communication/recommendations to the Design Build Director, and Superintendents. *Essential Duties and Responsibilities:* * Analyse the client RFP & Project Agreement * Execute and inspect excavation methods and ground conditions * Monitor excavation, installations of supports * Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverable * Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, documentation requirements and presentations * Ensure that projects and programs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards * Monitor and maintain the tunnel crew?s performance and provide improvements to the Design Build Director * Responsible for ensuring that each department remains compliant with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and internal policies and that all statutory obligations are met * Communicate necessary changes as they pertain to the ground conditions, excavation methods, and or schedule of the tunnel construction with all parties involved including the Client * Promote STRABAG to all those associated with the project by demonstrating professional skill and a high standard of fairness and integrity * Participate in business development activities including proposals and tenders for new projects * Develop process improvements, planning, and analysis * Performs other related duties as assigned * You must be willing to travel within Ontario *Knowledge & Skill Requirements:* * Strong leadership, diplomatic, and motivations skills * Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment, demonstrated teamwork, innovation, and excellence * Superb organizational skills, problem-solving, and attention to detail * Self-motivated, and decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands * Experience in leading, motivating, and managing various project and program team sizes, including internal and external resources, holding team accountable for performance * Decision maker with proven negotiation and conflict resolution skills * Advanced organizational and managerial skills * Self-motivated, persistent, and flexible * Ability to evaluate alternative solutions and develop sound conclusions, recommendations, and courses of action *Qualifications:* * 20 years of experience as a Construction Manager, including experience on large soft-ground SEM construction projects * Bachelor?s Degree in Civil Engineering, P. Eng. qualification * Extensive understanding of and experience with SEM project and program management principles * Extensive SEM construction experience including application of various methods of grouting and pre-support * At least 3 completed tunneling projects over CAD$100 million * Experience working on SEM project(s) in Canada and working on North American SEM Tunneling projects * Excellent, planning, organization, and communication skills The employee is generally required to work on a construction site.
