Position Overview The City of Kamloops is looking for a highly skilled permanent, full-time Engineering Design Technician I who is proficient in using AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D design software to complete complex municipal design and drafting projects. Your projects will revolve around designs such as roads/sidewalks/muti-use paths/roundabouts, water/sanitation mains and storm drainage featuring green infrastructure. We are looking for a well-organized, motivated individual who has a high degree of visual and mental concentration.If you share in our corporate values of resiliency, purpose, trust, inclusivity, health conscious, and cooperation, and are interested in contributing to the development of our community in a meaningful way, then the Engineering Design Technician I position will be the position for you!The successful candidate must have the following qualifications: Completion of a two-year Computer Aided Design and Drafting program OR a Diploma in Civil Engineering. Minimum six (6) months? previous experience in municipal design using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D-based civil design software (with an emphasis on water, sanitary, drainage and roads). Registered as a Trainee, Certified Technician (CTech), or Applied Science Technologist (AScT) with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC). Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence or equivalent.This is a unionized position with CUPE Local 900; check out our Collective Agreement (2024 - 2025) for full details (ratified 2026 Collective Agreement coming soon). As this is a unionized position, all qualifications must be met in order to be shortlisted for the position. Hourly Rate$41.190 Hours & Days of WorkMonday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (summer)8:30 AM - 4:30 PM (winter)With the ability to apply for a modified schedule (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM) allowing for one day off every third week.
