Job description

Education: College/CEGEP. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Beef cattle ranching and farming, including feedlots. Outdoors. Odours. Livestock. All weather conditions. Dirty. Work setting: Rural area. Tasks: Develop specific plans to prioritize. Diagnose livestock health issues. Handling animals. Monitor the calving process. Monitoring animal health. Organize tasks to accomplish the work. Perform livestock feeding. Track and report on current feed inventory . Treat livestock health issues. Feed and tend animals. Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment. Carry out a pasture or pen breeding programs. Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed. Formulate feeding program. Maintain livestock performance records. Select livestock for sale. Clean stables, barns, barnyards and pens. Detect disease and health problems in crops, livestock and poultry. Perform general farm duties. Equipment and machinery experience: Feeding and watering system. Storage and silage system. Tractor. Loader. Skidsteer. Hand tools. Area of specialization: Cattle breeding. Beef cattle. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to work independently. Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Physically demanding.
