*Job Description* Custom Vac offers custom-built industrial vacuum equipment manufactured at our modern facility located in Nisku, Alberta. As a *Journeyperson *or *apprentice welders*, you are a critical part of our manufacturing team who support the skillful fabrication and assembly of vac truck components. Our talented welders are integral to the production of industry?leading trucks, helping ensure every customer receives a best?in?class product. *What Can We Give You?* * Employer Supported Benefits Plan (Health, Dental, Vision) * Life insurance and Employee and Family Assistance Program * RRSP Matching Program * Paid Flexible Time Off *What You?ll Do* * Read and interpret blueprints, specifications and instructions and be aware of opportunities to improve designs or assembly processes. * Fit and welds pieces to specific requirements in the fabrication process * Assemble and repairs welds on final truck assembly * Determine the appropriate welding equipment, set up and technique based on build specifications * Align components using Straightedge, Combination square, etc. and clamp pieces * Tact welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment * Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety, including replacing damaged or worm components *What You Bring* * Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent * Journeyman Welder or Year 2-3 active apprentice welder * Related trades courses are considered an asset * Minimum 2 years of welding experience * Experience reading prints and drawings * Aluminum/Tig welding experience is an asset * Ability to read and interpret blueprints to determine dimensions, tolerances, and layout of work * Ability to read and understand the imperial system of measurement * Comfortable working in varying environments including stationary weld station and on and around heavy equipment; able to comfortably lift up to 50 lbs. * Proficient in the use of Oxy/fuel cutting equipment, electric welding machines * Proficient in the use of GMAW, FCAW, SMAW welding processes and procedures * Take pride in delivering a quality customer product * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment * Strong attention to detail required, with the ability to look ahead in the work process * Ability to rapidly shift tasks to meet changing priorities * Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail * Ability to practice safe work practices and properly use PPE *Work Environment* * Manufacturing plant conditions (indoors, with variable temperature and humidity, noise, and dirt) * Physical hazards such as powered vehicle, pedestrian traffic, sharp objects, moving chassis and materials handling equipment * Work is primarily conducted on the manufacturing floor, which can be noisy and dusty. * Work will require working in various positions, and may include working at heights with securement * The employee must provide CSA-approved safety footwear and welding helmet. * All other Personal Protective Equipment will be provided.
