Job description

The Ministry of Social Services is seeking dedicated individuals who are passionate about supporting children, youth, and families as Child Protection Workers in the Estevan area. This permanent opportunity offers meaningful and challenging work delivering child protection, prevention, and family support services under The Child and Family Services Act and the Adoption Act, while helping improve outcomes for vulnerable children and families. The ideal candidate is compassionate, culturally responsive, adaptable, and committed to public service excellence. You will demonstrate strong relationship-building, communication, risk assessment, decision-making, and advocacy skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with children, families, Indigenous communities, service providers, and community partners in complex and often sensitive situations. To qualify, candidates must possess a Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work degree from an accredited university recognized by SASW/CASW or CASWE. Candidates must be legally eligible to operate a vehicle in Saskatchewan, be able to travel, work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, transport children and parents, and lift and carry up to 20 kg. Knowledge of child welfare practices, family assessment, multicultural perspectives, First Nations and Metis communities, poverty, systemic barriers, and socio-economic issues is essential. Responsibilities include investigating child protection concerns, assessing risks to child safety, providing intervention and support services, managing children in care, coordinating treatment and permanency planning, initiating court proceedings, advocating for clients, and maintaining professional documentation and case management standards.
