Welder

_Job Summary _ _The Welder assembles and welds metal fabrications and participates in efficient methods of assembly which may be subjected to radiographic and pressure tests. _ _Job Responsibilities _ _Level I_ _Receives instructions and blueprints from Plant Manager. _ _Locates and moves materials to and from workstation. _ _Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, and templates. _ * Makes the necessary jigs and fixtures in accordance with drawings and participates in efficient methods of assembly. * Makes cuts with hand torch, straightens, grinds, and fits parts in accordance with instructions or specifications. * Checks job and corrects fit-up where necessary. * Burns sections to facilitate fitting and burns bevels. * Welds areas that will be enclosed before completing fit up. * After inspection, makes necessary repairs and adjustments. * Recognizes and reports errors in blueprints, materials, tools, and equipment. * Sets up and read transit for levelling purposes. * Keeps work area clean and orderly, exercises all safety precautions. * Completes any other tasks as required by Plant Manager. Level II * Must successfully complete an all-position weld test which can include low hydrogen manual welding. Also, must complete sub arc welding and arc air work in accordance with the requirements of the MCCR and ASME codes. *Education* * Minimum high school diploma *Experience* * 1-3 years of experience with welding in manufacturing environment is preferred. Job Requirements * Can read and write. * Able to lift 50 lbs. * Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and templates. * Comfortable working with various hand tools and fabrication equipment. Level II Specific: * Must pass ASME or equivalent all-position weld test * Proficient in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Submerged Arc Welding (SAW), Air Carbon Arc Gouging (ACAG), and Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) * Ability to interpret and work to industry codes such as MCCR, ASME, or CWB Job Types: Permanent, Full-time Pay: $33.00 per hour Benefits: * Casual dress * Company pension * Dental care * Disability insurance * Extended health care * Life insurance * Paid time off * RRSP match * Vision care Experience: * Sub-Arc Welding: 1 year (preferred) Work Location: In person
