Employee safety shoe and prescription safety glasses reimbursement POSITION SUMMARY The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe handling and storage of material and the safe operation of a forklift. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Safely operate the counterbalance and combi lift trucks Comply with all safety and quality related policies, procedures, and system requirements Complete daily forklift maintenance checks at shift start-up to ensure trucks are in good working condition Ensure that the racking stations do not have to wait for bundles and the packing machine is unloaded in a timely manner Safely stage and stack finished and unfinished material Ensure sludge bins and baler are emptied as required Maintain a clean warehouse and shipping/receiving area. Remove any garbage/cardboard/wood and sweep as needed Ensure all walkways are clear at all times Ensure scrap is cut and bundled in a timely manner Organize the shipping area, clear the dock, and stage shipments for the next day Ensure wood is organized Perform any other job duties as assigned by your manager or shift supervisor, including providing support in Racking and Packing as needed Responsible to follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all Can Art Company Policies WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR High school diploma or equivalent Must have a valid forklift license (counterbalance) Minimum 2 years’ experience driving a forklift Experience in a manufacturing plant is an asset Experience with a combi lift is an asset Experience with heavy loads and long material (35 feet+) is an asset SKILLS REQUIRED Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Ability to perform well under pressure Ability to deal with people tactfully and professionally Ability to work both independently and in a team; prepared to help other team members as needed Strong attention to detail Basic computer skills are required Knowledge of health and safety best practices in a manufacturing environment Authorization to work in Canada without sponsorship is required.
