Job description

Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Hog and pig farming. Dusty. Noisy. Odours. Work setting: Rural area. Tasks: Conduct artificial insemination and spraying or shearing of livestock or disinfecting pens, barns or poultry houses. Diagnose livestock health issues. Handling animals. Monitoring animal health. Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration. Treat livestock health issues. Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures. Carry out a pasture or pen breeding programs. Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers. Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed. Maintain livestock performance records. Maintain quality control and production records. Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs. Maintain work records and logs. Perform general farm duties. Supervision: 3-4 people. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Combination of sitting, standing, walking.
