Job description

*Job Title: Banquet Porter (PART -TIME)* *Reports To: F & B Manager* *Date: 2 October, 2026* *RESPONSIBILITIES* Sets up, cleans and services banquet rooms according to Doubletree by Hilton standards, works in a team environment to ensure guest service is exceeded. *DUTIES Preparation* Prepares supplies and equipment for banquet functions. Performs tasks such as setting up tables, chairs and other equipment according to function requirements. Places tablecloths, glassware, writing pads, pens, candies, etc on tables. Sets buffets and coffee break stations with décor, plates, cutlery, glassware, chafing dishes and other required items. Maintains meeting room kit boxes. Ensures tablecloths and other set-up items are in good condition before placing on tables, inspects, wipes and polishes glassware. *Guest Service* Smiles and greets guests. Delivers ice water, boxes and other items to meeting rooms. Serves & maintains coffee breaks, continental breakfasts and other related meals as required according to guest contracts. Helps with buffet service as runner when required. Helps with Back of House service on large functions. Carries trays of food to serving stations when asked upon. Assists the server with food service if required. Helps bar staff with replenishment/clean up of glassware when required. *Clean-up* Cleans meeting rooms, whiteboards, cupboards, wastepaper baskets, etc after guest use. Cleans tables, separates dishes, silverware and glassware. Returns trays of soiled dishes, glassware, etc to the kitchen dishwasher. Busses plates, glassware, etc for servers during large functions. Removes, cleans and stores chafing dishes and buffet props after functions. Leaves room in neat & tidy condition. *Other* Must be able to lift 40 lbs. Communicates problems to the Department Supervisor. Complies with hotel policies and procedures. Actively participates in quality Teams as assigned. Actively participates in all assigned training programs. Assists other team members as required. Inspects tables, chairs and other banquet equipment ensuring they are in proper working condition. Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by Management. Must be SMART Serve Certified. Complies with hotel policies and procedures. *Safety & Wellness* Works in compliance with company Safety & Wellness policies and procedures. Complies with the Occupational Health & Safety Act. Reports any unsafe or hazardous condition/practice to the supervisor. Maintains work area in a clean, orderly manner. Signs off on, and complies with, Safe Operating Procedures for this position Never operates any equipment, machine, device or work process in a manner that will endanger yourself, another worker, or a guest.
